September 19, 2008

Hello everybody,

This is the first entry on our blog and I promise to make very effort to update it.
The past year of our lives has been an adventure to say the least and we can only continue to look forward to what is in store for us.

Coming soon will be our 2nd child, Mikayla Jayne Cook, sister to our amazing son Connor Floyd Cook.

Mikayla is currently making her presence known as she decided that she wants to come a bit early. We are currently just shy of 32 weeks and my water has been broken for 4 days, we are hoping that she will hang out a bit longer but the anticipation of meeting our little girl is killing us (not to mention the fact that total bed rest is NOT something i'm used to at all). The doctors say that everything is looking great so far though, so God willing, we will have a healthy baby girl in a week or so.

Connor is now 10 months old and growing more and more every day. He truly blows my mind when i see how quickly he is learning and developing. He is the most laid back child, which is such a blessing, but I have a feeling this will all change when he starts to compete with his little sister. He has 6 teeth now and is learning words. His favorites are daddy, and tick tock (He loves clocks, ceiling fans, and generally anything that spins). He learned to crawl some time ago and has grown bored with it. He now stands up on his own and walks along with the help of whatever may be around him. He has taken his fair share of knockabouts in his quest to take over the world (or at least the house) but mommy has learned the fine art of the baby gate!

Marshall is working for Crowder Construction Co (thanks to a little help from one of my favorite people) and loves it. It's so nice to see him come home in a good mood after having been at work all day, he really seems to enjoy the sense of accomplishment he gets from seeing his hard work come together. In the relatively near future, however, the project that his team is working on will be ending and we are currently unsure of what lies ahead at the close of this project. There is a possibility that we may have to move from Columbia to go to another Crowder project, but nothing is definite yet. Hopefully we will know soon.

As for now, like I said, we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our daughter from the comfort of the hospital Maternity Ward. We ask that your thoughts and prayers be with us as she makes her way into the world, and we promise an update as soon as possible.

Oh yeah, and I'll be posting pictures soon too...

With love to you all,
The Cooks
